Winner of the recent The Search: E! Host South Africa, Katleho Sinivasan, has not stopped since winning the competition more than a week ago.
“I have not rested since winning last week. It has been interview after interview and the journey itself has been incredible,” the 26 year old told The New Age.
The former Mzansi Insider presenter and producer was announced as the winner at a glitzy ceremony in Sandton, Johannesburg. He beat fellow finalist Abigail Visagie.
Kat, as he is affectionately known, is now preparing for his debut at the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) this weekend.
He will be on the carpet presenting alongside celebrated television presenter Bonang Matheba.
“I am not nervous about presenting alongside Bonang. On the contrary I am looking forward to it. I will not be competing with Bonang but she will be by my side and I know I will be in good hands,” he said.
Sinivasan says he had to constantly prepare himself psychologically throughout the competition.
“I had to move from a ‘what if I do not win’ mentality to an ‘I can win this’ mentality. Following this realisation, losing was not an option as I didn’t prepare myself to lose.
“I have always wanted to be part of E! Entertainment and looked up to Ryan Seacrest who is one of the best television presenters I have seen,” he said.
The talented presenter says this win means a lot to him as he is finally getting recognition for his talent and skills.
The journey through countless challenges and tasks over the past six weeks in the competition also came with realisations and getting to know himself a bit better.
“I am now more in touch with my emotions than before the competition.
“Another realisation is that I perform better under pressure which will come in handy at red carpet events like the Saftas as no amount of preparation can prepare you for that kind of occasion,” he said.
Winning the competition also brings with it an opportunity for Sinivasan to travel to Los Angeles to meet some of his colleagues from the US.
“Meeting the team from E! Entertainment will be such an incredible experience for me.
“I can’t wait to share some of the inspiration I get from the presenters,” he said.
The energetic presenter says if there was anything that enabled him to win the presenter search, it was passion.
“I think passion for presenting let me win the search. This is something I have always wanted to do and winning The Search was the biggest motivation to do my best to ensure I walk away the winner,” he said.
Throughout the competition, Sinivasan was encouraged by the support and love he received from fans as well as friends and family.
“I received a lot of encouragement from strangers, fans and family. This made me want to do even better to show their faith and support in me is not in vain. I also received support from my mother.
“Her support has never left me. She is still my biggest supporter, even after the win,” Sinivasan said.
