SOUTH African born comedian Trevor Noah, who is busy with his stand up comedy shows in Washington DC was not present to accept his first ever Emmy Award at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday.
The 69th instalment of the awards took place at the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday and yesterday. The comedian and his team took the award in short form variety series for its YouTube segment Between The Scenes.
The ceremony forms part of the annual Primetime Emmy Awards at the same venue and recognises technical and other similar achievements in American television programming, including guest acting roles.
The awards which happen over two nights kicked off with 46 award categories including Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th Hairspray Live, RuPaul’s Drag Race, James Corden and Saturday Night Live.
The first leg of the awards cover a wide range of genres including animation, documentary, reality and variety programming, while the second night honours outstanding achievement in technical and creative achievement categories for scripted programming including comedy, drama and limited series.
