Bidvest Wits have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League following their goalless draw with Al Ahly in their second leg tie on Sunday afternoon at the Bidvest Stadium. Wits lost 1-0 to the Egyptian giants in the first leg last weekend.
However, the students still have the chance to compete in the continental competition in the Confederation Cup alongside Platinum Stars.
Wits looked promising in the early stages of the game but could not create clear chances. As Wits continued to look for a goal, Gavin Hunt had to introduce Phakamani Mahlambi with Elias Pelembe in the 55th minute.
The home side could not penetrate the defence of their opponents despite putting more pressure on them. The visitors almost broke the deadlocks through Gamal, but the player hit the upright. The score remained 0-0 as Al Ahly win the tie 1-0 on aggregate.
